| Weather |
The average temperature in the Central Plateau area is approximately 20 C° (68 F°), and in the low coast lands 26 C° (79 F°). The rainy season begins in May and continues through late November, but is not constantly wet: July invariably bring a temporary abatement and, in general mornings are clear. There are plenty of microclimates too, with temperatures descending as altitudes rise. In the dry season, San José and other Central Valley towns enjoy a fresh, breezy, spring-like climate requiring a jacket or sweater in the evenings, while the pacific side endures stifling temperatures. Rain still occur in high mountainous area, and above all, in the Caribbean lowlands, where downpours can last for days – or break into brilliant sunshine a couple hours. |
